Let me just say right off the bat that I am not a cat lover!  Rocky, he is not just any c
at.  He owns me.  If you are a cat lover then you know you don't own a cat, they own you.  Rocky does not know that I am not a cat lover.  He just knows I love him.  My wife has 4 cats and I can't stand any of them.  But Rocky is different, let me tell you why.  My wife found Rocky and 3 other cats in the back of my pickup truck at about 3 days old.  The momma was no where to be found.  Well not wanting any of them to just die, I proceeded to bottle feed all of them 3 times a day.  Rocky just stood out from the rest.  He was always the first to get fed and would drink the most.  I guess that determination is what kept him alive as the other 3 died.
Having 3 dogs in the house has made Rocky act more like a dog than a feline.  Everyday he meets me at the door when I return home from work.  If I am busy doing something I can always count on him to help me.  Rocky even loves to eat what I eat.  He is a constant companion who has thourghly won over the heart of dog person.

Let me just say that if you get the opportunity to bottle feed any domesticated animal, I urge you to do it.  There have been few things in my life that have satisfied me more than raising my cat. A few things I learned in the process:
1) Powered cat milk works just as good as liquid and is cheaper.
2) In a pinch baby formula will not kill them, just not too much.
3) The weeping from the eyes can be a sign of an upper respiratory infection.  This will kill a young cat very quickly.

What a joy to raise an animal from birth.  I encourage all to give it a try once.

Wow! I didn't know this story was here and you've done exactly what I suggested in my last comment. Good job, Rick!

I am NOT a cat person either. And although a 'sweet' story, I'll pass on getting a kitten and bottle feeding her/him.

You're a good man to allow Ragamuffin to convert you! I'm sure your wife gets a kick out of the transformation!

Be well,
Avis

Thanks Avis,
Yes my wife loves the idea that this cat has taken to me.  She is hoping I will take to her cats also.  Not going to happen.

I'm not a cat person, but I did like your story. Cats seem know that I don't like them and they use this to annoy me. Any time I visit someone who has a cat, it seems to have a need to walk across me, walk around my feet, over the back of the couch by my head, anything to annoy me.

Yea David, I know what you mean.  Rocky tends act more like a dog than a cat.  He even sleeps on the floor with the dogs in their dog bed.  I hope he never finds out he's a cat.
